رجل يسرق 121 مليون دولار من غوغل وفيسبوك
عتقد كثيرون أنه من الصعب أن تتعرض شركات التقنية العملاقة لعمليات احتيال يدبرها أفراد، لكن هذا الأمر حصل بالفعل، فبين سنتي 2013 و2015، تم خداع شركتي فيسبوك وغوغل فدفعتا عشرات الملايين من الدولارات لمجموعة محتالين.
وفي الأسبوع الماضي، اعترف رجل من ليتوانيا يبلغ من العمر 50 عاما، بضلوعه في عملية الاحتيال التي سرقت 98 مليون دولار من فيسبوك و23 مليون دولار من غوغل.
وأقر إيفالداس ريماسوسكس بعملية الاحتيال أمام القضاء الأميركي، ووجهت إليه محكمة في نيويورك تهم سرقة بيانات، فضلا عن غسل الأموال، ويواجه عقوبة تصل إلى 30 سنة خلف القضبان عند النطق بالحكم في يوليو المقبل.
وبحسب ما نقلت "بلومبرغ" عن صك الاتهام ، فإن ريماسوسكاس، نصب على الشركتين من خلال انتحال صفة شركة "كوانتا كمبيوتر" التي تربطها عدة عقود بكل من غوغل وفيسبوك.
وذكر المصدر، أن شركتي غوغل وفيسبوك من زبائن الشركة التايوانية التي تعمل في صناعة الإلكترونيات، ونجح المتهم في تزوير عدة وثائق، بفضل تعاونه مع أشخاص لم يجر تحديد هوياتهم.
وقام المحتالون بإنشاء عناوين مزيفة من البريد الإلكتروني، باسم الشركة التايوانية، فضلا عن فواتير وأوراق أخرى مزيفة، وتمكنوا من إقناع "غوغل" و"فيسبوك" بالدفع، وتم تحويل الأموال إلى حسابات بنكية يديرها المتهم ريماسوسكس في عدة دول.
وفي سنة 2017، تم تسليم المتهم إلى الولايات المتحدة، ويشك القضاء في أن يكون قد أنشأ البنية التحتية الضرورية لعملية الاحتيال، لكنه يستبعد أن يكون وراء إقناع فيسبوك وغوغل بتسليم الدفعات الباهظة.
وقالت شركة غوغل إنها تمكنت من استعادة الأموال التي قامت بتحويلها فيما أكدت شركة فيسبوك أنها استعادت النصيب الأكبر مما قامت بتحويله.
